The city of Broaddus is the Gateway to Lake Sam Rayburn, one of the most popular recreation areas in East Texas.

The largest body of water contained entirely within the State of Texas, it covers 114,500 acres at normal capacity.

Offering information, camping areas on the lake, guide services, motels and restaurants, Broaddus is a must stop for vacationers and fishermen.

Broaddus in the News

A recent Friday found the youth group from Broaddus First Baptist Church expanding their service project to include the Log Cabin, home of the San Augustine County Chamber of Commerce.

They did a great job cleaning up the Log Cabin – inside and out! Moving the Chamber collateral from the storehouse and picking up the litter from the grounds was a big help.

The activity at the Log Cabin was part of a larger service project for the Broaddus First Baptist youth, and the goal was to raise awareness of world hunger.

Other elements of the project included: collecting food for Care and Share of San Augustine, raising money for the Baptist General Convention of Texas World Hunger Relief, and participating in a 30 hour famine study which included a service project in the community.
